CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- The Boys and Girls Club of Southern Illinois has been working hard on a special project.
The kids want to thank Jackson County State's Attorney Joseph Cervantez for supporting the club. Six large paintings, hand painted by the kiddos, were presented to Cervantez Wednesday.
Cervantez says he's honored. "It feels amazing because I've always wanted to make sure our office was open to the community and that the community had access to what's going on in our crimal justice system around. I think it's so important for kids to understand how our crimal justice system works and they know who the people are who are involved in the important decisions in the community."
Tina Carpenter is the CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Illinois. She says the children learned a lot and had tons of fun creating their artwork. It'll be on display in the State's Attorneys office in Murphysboro. That's on the third floor of the courthouse.
