Harrisburg (WSIL) -- Work continues on the demolition and clean up of the old Malan Junior High School in Harrisburg.
Crews have begun the process of removing asbestos and damaged windows. That has to take place before the building can be demolished.
Harrisburg Mayor John McPeek says he looks forward to the city getting rid of the eyesore.
"We have a couple of options we're looking at for the property so it'll be a nice piece of property, quite a few block there so something maybe could go in there or maybe some housing development. We'll see," said John McPeek, Mayor of Harrisburg.
Cleanup is expected to go until around the middle of May, before demolition can begin.
