COVID-19 vaccine clinic for veterans, spouses and caregivers POSTPONED

UPDATE: April 15, 2021
The Marion VAMC Veteran, Spouse & Caregiver Vaccine event has been postponed. The clinic was supposed to give out one dose Johnson and Johnson vaccines, but was postponed after the U.S. recommended pausing use of that vaccine.
The Marion VA is still administering Moderna vaccines. If you were scheduled to receive the Johnson and Johnson at the VA, you will be rescheduled for a Moderna shot.
ORIGINAL STORY
MARION (WSIL) -- The Marion VA and the Southern Illinois Miners have partnered to host a COVID-19 vaccine event Saturday, April 17th for all Veterans, Veteran spouses and Veteran caregivers.
This will be a walk-in event starting at 8:00 a.m. and running all day Saturday. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be administered at The Diamond Club @ Rent One Park, 1000 Miners Drive Marion, IL 62959.
The Miners will also offer a free ticket voucher to a future regular season game to all who participate.
This walk-in event is open to the following individuals: Veterans, Spouses & Caregivers
- Veteran Definition: Anyone who served in the U.S. military is eligible to be vaccinated through VA. No DD-214 required to receive vaccine.
- Spouse Definition: A spouse includes marriage, same-sex, and common-law marriages. If you characterize your relationship as spousal, you can receive the vaccine. A spouse includes a widow and a widower of a Veteran. A person stating that they are the spouse of a Veteran and giving the Veteran’s name is sufficient to give them a vaccine.
- Caregiver Definition: For COVID-19 vaccine eligibility, we define a caregiver as a family member or friend who provides care to a Veteran. Caregivers may help the Veteran with personal needs like feeding, bathing, or dressing. They may also help the Veteran with tasks like shopping or transportation. A person stating that they are the caregiver of a Veteran and giving the Veteran’s name is sufficient to give them a vaccine.
