WEST FRANKFORT (WSIL) -- News 3 is working to find out what caused a fire that almost destroyed a Franklin County home.

A home on South County Line Road caught fire around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. As of 10 p.m., the fire had been put out but the home was still smoking and crews were still on scene.

News 3 spoke with the West Frankfort Fire Department. Their chief, Jody Allen, tells us the house was on fire when his crews arrived. Multiple agencies had to be called in to help, including Zeigler, Benton and Johnston City.

The department says the damage to the home is extensive. They tell News 3's Maya Skinner they have been in contact with the family and no injuries have been reported.

The State Fire Marshall was also at the scene.

News 3 will update this story as more details are made available.
