27 new cases of Coronavirus in southern Illinois

(WSIL) -- Health departments across southern Illinois are reporting 27 new cases of COVID-19 on May 1, 2021.

Franklin County:

  • New Cases: 10
  • Total Cases: 4506
  • Total Deaths: 63

Jackson County:

  • Female: one in her thirties, two in their forties, and one in her eighties
  • Male: one preteen, one teen, and one in his twenties

Health officials are currently monitoring 78 active cases. Jackson County has had 4,999 cases to date, with 72 related deaths. Of those positive cases, 4,849 individuals released from isolation, including 6 Saturday.

Saline County:

  • Female: 1 in their 30’s
  • Male: 1 in their teens

To date, Saline County has had a total of 2,713 lab confirmed positives, including 53 deaths.

White County:

  • Female: 1 in their teens

White County has had a total of 1,781 lab-confirmed positives, including 27 deaths.

Williamson County:

  • New Cases:  7
  • Total Cases: 7569
  • Total Deaths: 121

Illinois Department of Public Health:

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 2,813 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease Saturday, including 32 additional deaths.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,337,868 cases, including 21,992 deaths across the state.

A total of 9,348,459 vaccines have been administered.
