One adult, three teens injured in Williamson County crash

WILLIAMSON COUNTY (WSIL) -- Illinois State Police are investigating a crash in Williamson County that left one adult, and three teenagers injured.

ISP troopers received a call about a crash just after 7:40 a.m. on Monday, May 4 in rural Williamson County near unincorporated Crab Orchard.

Initial investigation shows a 17-year-old male was driving a 1972 Chevrolet pickup south on Paulton Road. He was also carrying 3 other teenaged boys as passengers.

As the Chevrolet pickup approached Illinois Route 13, the driver failed to yield and pulled out in front of a 2014 Jeep SUV driven by 34-year-old Erika Kirkpatrick, before both vehicles collided.

All 4 indviduals involved in the crash were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

The teen driver of the Chevrolet pickup was cited for failure to yield at a yield intersection.

School officials say all four teenagers were headed to Crab Orchard School for the day. A 'Hat Day' fundraiser is taking place at the school on Friday, May 7th, for the students.

The investigation is ongoing by Illinois State Police.
