(WSIL) -- There is no happy way to pitch a forecast that is full of rain moving into Mother's Day weekend. Showers are likely Saturday. There should be some dry time in-between small showers and a break is possible in the evening. Thunder and lightning are possible but the risk of severe weather is very small.
Sunday appears very wet early with steady rain in the morning forecast. Very strong winds are expected all day and a round of afternoon thunderstorms could tap those winds to produce damaging wind gusts. There is a small chance of severe storms late in the day. Overall cooler than normal temperatures are in the forecast through the weekend into next week. I will have the latest forecast updates on News 3 WSIL.
