Rain chances drop, but heat & humidity turn up

WSIL -- Finally, a change in the pattern! A slow moving upper-level disturbance has moved far enough east to shift showers and storms away from our region for at least a day.

There is still a small chance for a pop up shower or storm during the heat of the day, mainly close to the Wabash River Valley.

While the rain chances will be lower Friday, the heat and humidity will be higher. Temperatures this afternoon will peak around 90°, but "it's not the heat, it's humidity". That humidity will push the heat indices into the mid to upper 90s.

Saturday will even be warmer! Actual temperatures will peak in the lower 90s and the heat index will approve 100º.

Never leave kids or pets in a car in the hot weather. At 90º, the inside of a car warms to more than 120º in about 30 minutes.

Be sure you are staying hydrated, limiting strenuous activity during the afternoon, and thinking about your pets.

A weak cold front Saturday evening will bring the chance for a few more scattered storms back into the forecast. This cold front will usher in slightly cooler and less humid air for Sunday.
