CARTERVILLE, Ill (WSIL) -- The new Hurricane Creek Community Solar Farm in Carterville will give 300 residents a new option to lower their electric bills.

The two megawatt solar project was recently completed by Clearway Community Solar. The farm sits on about 20 acres and crews installed more than 7,000 solar panels at the site and connected the project to the electric grid.

"It's important for folks to be thinking about good ways to save money and do good for the environment and this is a good opportunity to do that. Clearway has been doing a pretty good job of helping people understand it and make sure they make a good decision when they sign up." said Clearway Community Solar Spokesperson Peter Gray.

Clearway is accepting new subscriptions on a first-come, first-served basis. Ameren customers can subscribe to Clearway’s solar projects by visiting
