(WSIL) -- Another hot spell will be in the region for the next few days with afternoon temperatures in the 90s and heat index values topping 100. The warm air intrusion will work to stabilize the atmosphere slightly and drop thunderstorm chances a little. Any storms that do pop up will be capable of producing very strong gusty winds and will likely move slowly leading to heavy rain totals in isolated locations.
A cold front is expected early next week bringing a bigger chance of storms as cooler air moves in to end the hot spell. I will have the latest forecast updates on News 3 WSIL.
