COLP (WSIL) -- If you're looking for a place to celebrate Juneteenth, the 2nd annual Juneteenth event is happening Saturday in Colp!
Organizers tell News 3 it starts at 4 p.m. at the Meeks Lot at 206 W Andrew Springs Road, where there will be food, music, vendors and a chance to hear some speakers.
They hope the community will turn out for some fun and learn more about the nation's history.
News 3 also has some reaction about Juneteenth becoming a federal holiday.
"Of course, I'm happy, it's a great thing. But the flip side, what took so long? What took so long? But you know with that being said, we are moving in the right direction," says organizer Dina Timmons. "If you don't know your history, how can you matriculate through life? Knowing your history gives you perspective."
Organizers say you can catch the fireworks show Saturday, June 19th at 8:19 p.m.
