CARBONDALE, Ill (WSIL) -- Several local films will be showcased at the PBS Short Film Festival. It's the 4th straight year a film from SIU has been featured in the festival's 10 year history.
"Forward Journey" a film by S-I-U filmmakers and "Mildred" another by Carbondale filmmakers are just 2 of of 25 independent films at this year's festival. Jacob Boehme a filmmaker at SIU, says while many people may not realize it a crew can spend hundreds of hours putting together the material.
"I can't even underestimate the amount of work that you can put into that's only 4 minutes and 52 seconds. It can be weeks, it can be months, and I think we're all extremely proud of it."
"Forward Journey" is the second film Boehme and his classmate Mackenzie Rosario have submitted to the festival.
"As much as we were really happy with the film we made the year before. We knew we could step it up and take it to a level that we hadn't seen from ourselves yet. said Boehme
The film was part of a class project.
"the most important thing here is -- you're creating something that you want to go out in the world. And that's why these students come here. They want to learn about something that then they can use for themselves and for their careers." said HD Motyl, SIU Associate Professor in School of Media Arts.
Film showing have begun and will continue until July 23rd. And you can vote for your favorite film
