Carbondale (WSIL) -- A big saluki send off for the two time Olympian DeAnna Price as she heads out to the Tokyo Olympic games to compete in the hammer throw. Price has lived in Southern Illinois since 2011, competed for the track and field program at SIU and now is apart of the coaching staff at the university while she trains for the Olympics.
Today fans cheered on price as her and her husband and coach JC Lambert drove through the parking lot of the Banterra center. Numerous people brought signs and many spoke about the incredible person and role model she is.
The Hammer throw qualifying round begins on August 1st with the final round on August 3rd.
