MARION (WSIL)--Friday was the first day of Marion's first Kid and Teen Entrepreneur Expo.
Kids from all over southern Illinois who have their own small businesses were invited to showcase their skills and products.
Organizer Leigh Dunning said it's important to have kids get involved with entrepreneurship.
"I think that entrepreneurship is really valuable for young people to learn, even if they don't decide as an adult to be an entrepreneurship and go into business for themselves. It teaches independence, it teaches responsibility, it teaches resiliency, and just a lot of skills that will be valuable no matter what career path they choose later in life," said Dunning.
The second day of the expo is Saturday at the Oasis Entertainment Center from 9 am to 2 pm.
