CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- Southern Illinois University's first women's soccer coach has been placed on administrative leave.

SIU communications executive director Kim Rendfeld says assistant soccer coach Taylor Brittingham will serve as interim coach until further notice. Rendfeld did not comment on why Williams has been put on leave.

Southern Illinois University named Grant Williams as the first women’s soccer head coach in school history in October of 2018. The program competed for the first time in fall of 2019 and made its Missouri Valley Conference debut in the fall of 2020.
